One decade ago, two friends decided to turn their passion for animal rights and their favorite fandom into a nonprofit organization. They knew the path to becoming a nonprofit would present Triwizard Tournament-level challenges, but that the experiences and successes along the way would make it all worth it. On January 9th, 2015, their vision became a reality!
First known as The Fwooper Foundation, then The Fantastic Beasts Foundation, and ultimately The Protego Foundation, this organization has touched the lives of thousands of animals and humans alike, and has fostered a tight-knit community of like-minded people, many of whom now have become close friends. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to create a nonprofit and keep it afloat. The Protego team is very proud to contribute to the magical community and keep the flame of fan activism blazing! |

For 10 whole years, individuals from across the globe have crossed paths thanks to this welcoming, fun, and niche little group of people doing good in the world. We’ve grown together, learned from each other, and collectively made positive change in the fandom.
Over the years, we are proud to have had many successes, including winning our campaign to get fully vegan Butterbeer at Wizarding World locations worldwide. Along the way, we’ve also helped rhinos, badgers, and chimps through our campaigns, educated fans through ProtegoCast and our book club, and shared tips and tricks on how to help the environment and live a vegan lifesyle through our blog and social media.
