Meet the team behind the Protego Foundation!
Tylor Starr
President / Creator / Cofounder Tylor has been a fan of Harry Potter since he was read the first book by his third grade teacher in 2000—he has been hooked ever since. When Tylor was a freshman in college, he founded the first official Colorado quidditch team at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He played and coached the Northern Colorado Golden Griffins for two years while working for the International Quidditch Association as the Colorado State Representative. During this time, he also founded Greeley, Colorado’s first animal rights group called the Colorado Animal Rights Enthusiasts. Tylor can often be found stuffing his face with vegan mac and cheese and bottled vegan Butterbeer while talking non-stop about magizoology, wizarding world politics, magical creature liberation, and Celestina Warbeck. |
Kathryn Henzler
Executive Director / Cofounder she/her | Kathryn has a passion for anything nerdy and vegan, and is pretty much the American Hermione, complete with brown, frizzy hair. When she was in her sophomore year in college, not only did she discover the joys of muggle quidditch as a keeper on the USC quidditch team, but she also rekindled her passion of animal rights and became vegetarian. Since then, she has volunteered her time with various animal rights organizations and demonstrations. Since graduating, she has been passionate about incorporating animal rights and veganism into other areas of her life, like music, clothing and costume design, and sports. And her post-Potter series headcanon is that Hermione became vegan. |
Kat Miller
Executive Board Member she/her | Kat has always had an obsessive personality, jumping from fad to fad all throughout her teens and early-20's. It wasn't until she found Harry Potter in 2004 that she felt at home. She joined the fandom in 2006 with a volunteer position at MuggleNet.com and now serves as the site's Creative & Marketing Director. One childhood obsession that stuck is her passion for animals. She basically grew up on her grandparent's Massachusetts dairy farm and developed a love for cows and chickens and farm cats at a very young age. She has been an advocate for animal rights for decades but didn't find her voice until college when she started learning American Sign Language. Delving deep into the marginalization of other communities and cultures lit a fire inside her heart and she is now a very loud and proud animal (and ASL) advocate and excited to be working within the Potter community. |
