Community & Programs Director

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Community & Programs Director will create and optimize all programs (and the operations within) to care for The Protego Foundation community. This includes the community within The Protego Foundation volunteer team.

This position will require approximately 5-7 volunteer hours per week, plus monthly virtual meetings.
​
Duties:
  • Leading operations and creating an overall programs calendar for all programs with the goal to foster and build The Protego Foundation community (ex. book clubs, in-person events).
  • Building an operations team in order to manage the logistics, scheduling, and optimizing of processes used throughout the organization (ex. Patreon and podcast coordinators).
  • Leading the community team and delegating necessary tasks to direct reports which align with the overall department strategy.
  • Creating community-building programs within the team that foster a safe, encouraging, and fun work environment.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to write full and grammatically correct sentences in a professional, friendly manner required
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, timely manner remotely using messaging apps, email, and project management software required
  • Ability to represent The Protego Foundation through communication with other businesses, activists, and groups required
  • Passion for animal rights required
  • Detailed knowledge of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, the Wizarding World universe, and / or other fandoms preferred​​

GRANTS COORDINATOR

Reporting to the Finance and Development Director and also working closely with the Executive Director, the Grants Coordinator is responsible for locating and applying for grants for The Protego Foundation. These grants may be used as funding for a variety of development purposes and projects. This includes the development of proposals, completing grant-specific reports, researching the availability of both public and private grants, as well as reporting on the grant funding process to ensure the organization’s compliance with all requirements for receiving the grant.

This position will require an average of 3-5 volunteer hours per week, plus attendance at quarterly virtual team meetings.

Duties:
  • Assisting in the development of a grant program along with the Finance and Development and Executive Directors, in accordance with The Protego Foundation’s mission and goals as well as Colorado non-profit best practices.
  •  Managing grant processes for all grants, including workflows for grant searches and research, proposal writing, budgets, review, approvals, etc.
  • Applying for a minimum of five (5) grants per quarter.
  • Maintaining a respectful relationship with donors, foundations, staff, and other volunteers.
  • Other grant-related duties as assigned.

  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
  • ​Reliable, organized, and attentive to detail​
  • Ability to work remotely with a team
  • Experience with nonprofit fundraising preferred
  • Experience with grant management or writing preferred
  • Passion for animal rights required
  • Detailed knowledge of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, the Wizarding World universe, and / or other fandoms preferred

Press Coordinator

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Press Coordinator will assist with the day-to-day activities managing the publicity and public relations of The Protego Foundation.

This position will require an average of 3-5 volunteer hours per week, plus attendance at quarterly virtual team meetings.

Duties:
  • Creating a yearly press strategy and press calendar for The Protego Foundation
  • Establishing and maintaining press contacts in different areas of news media (vegan news media, Harry Potter news media, national news media, etc.)
  • Working with the Executive Director and Campaigns Director to create and disseminate press releases for campaigns and other press correspondence
  • Facilitating press junkets and interviews at in-person events when possible, such as EnchantiCon
  • Performing other tasks related to press relations as assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications:
  • Ability to write full and grammatically correct sentences in a professional manner
  • ​Ability to work remotely with a team 
  • Experience with press relations or communications preferred
  • Passion for animal rights preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, the Wizarding World universe, and / or other fandoms preferred​

Campaigns Coordinator

Reporting directly to the Campaigns Director, the Campaigns Coordinator works to enhance the success of Protego Foundation’s campaigns. The Campaigns Coordinator will help lay the groundwork for new campaigns as well as helping to maintain ongoing campaigns.

This position will require an average of 3-5 volunteer hours per week, plus attendance at quarterly virtual team meetings.

Duties:
  • Researching and helping develop new campaigns and campaign strategies
  • Communicating with outside people, activists, and companies with whom we are working
  • Collaborating with other Protego departments on campaign marketing and materials (e.g., social media, graphics)
  • Ensuring that campaign deadlines are being met
  • Preferred: Ability/willingness to attend in person events (protests, tabling events)

Qualifications:
  • Ability to use Google Suite, Slack, and Trello to communicate clearly and professionally and in a timely manner
  • Strong organizational, research, and communication skills
  • Self-starter who is detail-oriented and who works well both in a team and individually
  • Ability to work remotely with a team​
  • Previous work in the non-profit sector a plus
  • Passion for animal rights required
  • Detailed knowledge of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, the Wizarding World universe, and / or other fandoms required

Graphic Designer

Reporting directly to the Marketing Director, the Graphic Designer will contribute to the visual branding of The Protego Foundation’s outreach efforts by designing for campaigns, leaflets, signs, stickers, merchandise, social media graphics, websites, and other materials. The ideal candidate should be able to clearly and quickly get a message across through eye-catching and engaging designs.

This position will require an average of 3-5 volunteer hours per week, plus attendance at quarterly virtual team meetings.

Duties:
  • Creating artwork used by the organization for outreach materials, signs, web pages, videos, infographics, banners, social media, and merchandise
  • Following the visual branding style of The Protego Foundation
  • Performing other design projects as assigned by the Marketing Director
​
Qualifications:
  • Experience with graphic design or illustration. including necessary software
  • Ability to work remotely with a team
  • Passion for animal rights preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, the Wizarding World universe, and / or other fandoms preferred​

Social Media Coordinator

Reporting directly to the Marketing Director, the Social Media Coordinator will contribute to the digital branding and face of The Protego Foundation’s outreach efforts by creating and distributing content, engaging with audience members, and managing multiple platforms. The ideal candidate should be able to clearly and quickly get a message across to wizarding world fans through eye-catching and engaging posts.

This position will require an average of 3-5 volunteer hours per week, plus attendance at quarterly virtual team meetings.

Duties:
  • Creating and distributing creative, magical content and writing across multiple social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and possibly more, based on research of necessary platforms
  • Researching hashtags, keywords, and other necessary content (wizarding world / fandom relevant) to optimize reach
  • Following the visual branding style created for the foundation, using work created by the Graphic Designer as needed
  • ​Performing other digital marketing projects as assigned by the Marketing Director
​
Qualifications:
  • Enthusiasm for creating fandom-inspired graphics and captions a must
  • Experience with Canva or other graphic creation tools
  • Experience with video filming and / or editing a plus
  • ​Ability to work remotely with a team 
  • Passion for animal rights preferred

Blog Writer

Reporting directly to the Marketing Director, the Blog Writer will contribute to the written branding of The Protego Foundation’s outreach efforts by writing engaging content for the organization’s blog. Topics to be written about may include alternatives to animal products, activist profiles, recipes, holiday features, merchandise roundups, and many more. The ideal candidate should be able to clearly get an animal rights message across to fans through well-researched information and interesting references.

This position will require an average of 3-5 volunteer hours per week, plus attendance at quarterly virtual team meetings.

Duties:
  • Researching assigned blog topics
  • Writing blog drafts (approximately 2 per month)
  • Correcting potential grammatical issues or other requested changes
  • ​Performing other writing tasks as assigned by the Marketing Director

Qualifications:
  • Enthusiasm for fandom-inspired writing
  • Ability to complete assignments on schedule
  • Strong written communication, grammar, and research skills
  • Ability to work remotely with a team
  • Passion for animal rights required
  • Detailed knowledge of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, the Wizarding World universe, and / or other fandoms required

Community & Programs Coordinator

Reporting directly to the Community & Programs Director, the Community & Programs Coordinator will manage engagement across all community programs and be the go-to person for specific questions from community members. They will stay up to date with new strategies for boosting engagement on Discord,  in programs, and within the team of staff members.

This position will require an average of 3-5 volunteer hours per week, plus attendance at quarterly virtual team meetings.

Duties:
  • Engaging with community members, utilizing the programs calendar, with the goal of fostering and building The Protego Foundation's community
  • Managing Discord channels and being “on-call” to answer questions from the community
  • Assisting in engaging community support and participation in programs such as ProtegoCast, Book Club, and events
  • Researching, implementing, and testing new strategies for boosting engagement on Discord and other relevant platforms
  • Providing ideas for fellow staff members to engage with the team, including sharing new Protego announcements with the community
  • Coordinating with department Director on community surveys that help to ensure the community members are continually receiving valuable and relevant content

Qualifications:
  • Ability to write full and grammatically correct sentences in a professional, friendly manner
  • Ability to have a reasonably prompt response time for message and comment engagement (within 1-2 days)​
  • Ability to work remotely with a team
  • Experience with Trello and Slack organization programs preferred
  • Experience with Discord preferred
  • Passion for animal rights required
  • Detailed knowledge of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, the Wizarding World universe, and / or other fandoms preferred

Executive Assistant

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Executive Assistant will help with the day-to-day administrative duties in running The Protego Foundation. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, easy to work with, highly organized, adept at scheduling, and prioritizes tasks well.

This position will require an average of 3-5 volunteer hours per week, plus attendance at quarterly virtual team meetings. There will also be opportunities to participate in monthly leadership meetings.

Duties:
  • Maintains the Executive Director’s appointment schedule by planning and scheduling meetings, events, interviews etc., in conjunction with the general org calendar on Google. 
  • Reads, drafts, and occasionally sends general emails, letters, and other correspondence.
  • Assists with tasks related to fundraisers, donors, programs, educational merch and materials, and community initiatives, including preparing reports, drafting documents, copyediting, and retrieving data.
  • Helps maintain and organize the document database in a confidential manner.
  • Keeps track of inventory and locations of inventory that have been sent out to events/for programs, and orders new inventory as needed.
  • Works in conjunction with the Executive Director and the marketing team to run our merch sales and giveaways.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to use Google Suite, Slack, and Trello to communicate clearly and professionally and in a timely manner required
  • Proficiency in using document creation software, such as Microsoft Office, required
  • Experience in volunteering with a non-profit or as an executive assistant preferred​
  • Ability to work remotely with a team
  • Experience with Discord preferred
  • Passion for animal rights required
  • Detailed knowledge of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, the Wizarding World universe, and / or other fandoms preferred
