Warner Bros. Studio Tour
Hollywood
The Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood is located in Burbank, California in the heart of where the majority of US-based films are created. At the Studio Tour, you’ll be whisked off on a behind-the-scenes adventure to see a wide variety of film sets and learn all about the magic that goes into movie-making.
Unlike Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, the Hollywood tour isn’t fully centered around the wizarding world. You’ll experience multiple phases during your visit, including a guided tram tour through sets for films and TV shows such as War of the Worlds, Friends, and Gilmore Girls, a self-guided walk among real props and interactive experiences, and opportunities to dine and shop.
This tour takes place on the backlot of a working film studio, which means there’s a chance you’ll catch a glimpse of an active set or even a celebrity as they walk to their trailer. The Studio Tour updates its exhibits every few years, which keeps the experience fresh and exciting.
The wizarding world section of the tour was updated in 2021, complete with 6 rooms containing different set pieces, photo ops, and interactive activities.

The EXPERIENCE
Upon entering the Studio Tour building, you’re greeted by a massive statue of the Triwizard Cup in front of a painted mural of Hogwarts. This is a great place to pose for a photo as you await your tour start time. You are also able to access the Studio Tour Store and Starbucks from the entry area.
Once you’ve taken in the sights from your tram vehicle, you’re dropped off at Stage 48, which includes an exhibit on filmmaking, sets from popular TV shows, and a Friends-themed cafe. This phase of the tour also includes an interactive experience section, where you’ll find some truly magical gems. Experience motion capture as Dobby, record a voice-over for Harry, or take flight on a broomstick and receive a moving photo to keep (this photo op requires an extra fee).
Next, you’re transferred to a building where towering displays featuring Harry, Hermione, and Newt greet you, hinting at what’s to come (and also offering another cool photo opportunity). From here, you’ll have the chance to see props and costumes from the DC universe - a worthy warm-up for the grand finale: the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts exhibit area!
Despite its moderate size, there is a nice variety of things to see and do. Step under the flying Ford Anglia and choose your first destination. Will you choose to get sorted? Explore Newt’s shed? Or will you brew a concoction in the Potions classroom?

Photo OpsThere are plenty of locations to take magical photos and feel like you’re part of the story. It’s enough to make a Potter fan shed a tear or two (and we aren’t ashamed).
Interactive ExperiencesIn addition to those mentioned previously (motion capture, voice over recording, and greenscreen moving photos), the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts area offers more interactive experiences that are great fun!
Our favorite experience was the book of magical creatures. After selecting a creature with your finger, you can interact with them on the wall. Each creature has different actions and objectives for you to help complete. This was a fascinating and fun feature! |
DINING OPTIONS
Unfortunately, the Studio Tour in Hollywood doesn’t offer much in the food and beverage department when it comes to plant-based options.
At the entrance of the tour, there is a Starbucks. Here you can find your standard options from Starbucks, including non-dairy milks for your coffee.
Within the Studio 48 phase of the tour (about half-way through), the Central Perk Cafe has a New York deli style menu and a case filled with bagels, cheesecakes, and other desserts. We didn’t see any vegan options other than chips and beverages, so you may be better off stopping by one of the many vegan restaurants that LA has to offer before or after your tour instead.
Sadly, this location doesn’t currently sell Bottled Butterbeer, either. Perhaps one day we’ll see a menu similar to that of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London or a Butterbeer Bar like the one at Harry Potter New York. For now, we’ll just keep crossing our wands!

MERCHANDISE
At the end of your tour, you cycle back to the Studio Tour Store. A sizable section of the store is dedicated to all things wizarding world, including apparel, wands, stationery, plush toys, and (non-vegan) sweets.
We didn’t find anything made of leather, wool, down, or other animal-based materials, but as always, be sure to double-check the tags to be safe.
Sadly, none of the candy offered here is vegan. We hope that they will soon decide to add the vegan sweets from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London, like the Peppermint Toads and the Slytherin Dark Chocolate Bar, to this location as well.
