Fandom Forward's annual event, Camp GLA, is completely virtual this year.

It’s the only place in the world where fans, creators, organizers, and academics of all ages come together to tap into their collective imagination as a powerful force for good.

The Protego Foundation is honored to be a Virtual Vendor for the event!

Read on to learn more about Fandom Forward and the amazing lineup of panels that they have scheduled. We are really excited to attend this one-of-a-kind conference and support the work that Fandom Foward is doing as a fellow fandom-inspired nonprofit!
You have more than likely heard of The Harry Potter Alliance. For over 15 years, their mission has been to turn fans into heroes. Like The Protego Foundation, they use the power of story and popular culture to make activism accessible and sustainable. Through experiential training and real life campaigns, they develop compassionate, skillful leaders who learn to approach the world’s problems with joy, creativity, and commitment to equity.

Recently, The Harry Potter Alliance changed their name to Fandom Forward!

From Fandom Forward's website:

"The Harry Potter Alliance was founded with a simple idea: what if fans used their passion and creativity to make the world a more loving, equitable place? That idea has driven hundreds of thousands of fan activists to do exactly that, and the world is demonstrably better for it.

But this place we’ve built? It doesn’t belong to just one fandom. No singular story can hope to represent every time, every question, or every lived experience. This movement is for anyone who believes in the power of stories and the communities that love them to change the world. It’s for everyone, and our name should reflect that. So on June 8th, 2021 we officially changed our name to Fandom Forward."

One of Fandom Forward's recurring events is Camp GLA - the Granger Leadership Academy.

According to Fandom Forward, Camp GLA is the only place in the world where fans, creators, organizers, and academics of all ages come together to tap into their collective imagination as a powerful force for good. You'll experience firsthand how fan activism makes the world around us one that reflects the magical worlds we love.

The packed schedule for the conference includes panels on setting goals, fundraising, leadership, and advocacy.

The conference is also highlighting subjects such as self-care, disability, and handling chronic pain.

In addition, their conference ends both of the main days on a high note with an Open Mic Night and a Camp Wrock Show.

Camp GLA has been held in person in the past, but this year, it's completely virtual. The event runs from July 16-18. Will you be attending?
Even if you aren't attending this year, don't forget to browse the Virtual Vendor Hall to support The Protego Foundation and other small businesses!
