3 years ago, we launched a chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance called “The Fwooper Foundation” as a way for young witches and wizards to get active for animal rights, and then to the Fantastic Beasts Foundation. Fast forward to today, and we have evolved into a fully-fledged organization: “The Protego Foundation.” Here are some of the highlights of our journey.

The Fwooper Foundation was founded on January 9th, 2015 to “break the silencing charm” placed on animals by society. We spent the first part of the year spreading the word, attracting members, and sharing some of our favorite veganized Harry Potter recipes.

On September 1st of the same year, we launched our first campaign. We started the “Adopt a Pygmy Puff” campaign to encourage fans to adopt rescue animals instead of buying them from pet stores and breeders.
This campaign was brought to life a second time in 2016, and in total, we had over 1,000 fans take the pledge over the course of both campaigns.

We chose the anniversary of the day Dobby was freed, May 30th 2017, to announce that we would be moving forward as the Fantastic Beasts Foundation.

Then, this past summer, we launched our highly successful “Erumpent Rescue” campaign to help save endangered Rhinos in South Africa with the help of Devon Murray (Seamus Finnigan) and MinaLima. When all was said and done, over 450 howlers were sent to the environment minister of South Africa through our partner Action for Rhinos, and over $700 was raised to be donated to the great work of Saving the Survivors.

And now, we are looking to the future as the Protego Foundation. We have so many great announcements and campaigns to come this year, so we hope you will continue to follow us and do all you can to help the magical creatures of our world.
