Maison de Magique Fragrances

Maison de Magique creates magical, vegan, and cruelty-free fragrances that make the perfect present for a fellow witch, wizard, or magical person (or a little treat for yourself!).

Perhaps you’re going to the Yule Ball, to a Weasley wedding, or for a drink at The Blind Pig Speakeasy. Wherever you’re headed, add a spritz of one of Maison de Magique’s House-themed scents and you’ll be sure to impress.

Whether you’re brave, intelligent, loyal, or cunning, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Maison de Magique offers four scents, each reflecting the different traits of the four Hogwarts Houses: Eau de Gryffindor, Eau de Ravenclaw, Eau de Hufflepuff, and Eau de Slytherin.

These enchanting fragrances are presented in reflective black glass bottles, each embellished with their corresponding House crests. The golden crests shimmer with the House colors subtly showing through in the background. They come in lavish packaging with an elegant paper insert that features images of Hogwarts Castle and the House mascots.

Eau de Gryffindor

This fragrance is described as “bold, illuminating, and brilliantly courageous. Eau De Gryffindor greets you with a brave and chivalrous dose of benevolence, leaving an unforgettable impression.”

Chivalrous and illuminating, the fragrance contains bold and radiant wood accords which are infused with rare mountain rose (extracted at first breath after the full moon), cumin, and spices. Then it’s mixed with a generous amount of vegan musk and guaiac wood. It also contains a vetiver-and-cedar base and olibanum, labdanum, and agarwood.

​Eau de Ravenclaw

We were lucky enough to be sent this gorgeous fragrance, and can safely say that we love it and would definitely recommend it!

Eau de Ravenclaw is “ravishingly ephemeral and refined,” embodying the “essence of absolute discovery.”

The fragrance is “enriched with dark wood accords and an alluring potion of florals and spice.” Essence of mandarin is infused with blackcurrant, lemon, bergamot, and oriental amber and vanilla, and includes a touch of incense and patchouli.

Eau de Hufflepuff

Hufflepuffs are fiercely loyal and kind, and this is reflected in Eau de Hufflepuff, which is “inviting and welcoming.”

It opens with “green and tart aromas of greenhouse basic,” and is surrounded by bitter chords of black pepper and cheerful pink pepper. Its sharp and citrusy scent is enhanced by rare magnolia along with comforting shades of ylang-ylang and gardenia, and the intriguing and inviting aroma comes from elegant orchid and oakmoss oils.

Eau de Slytherin

“Ambitious and audacious,” Eau de Slytherin is guaranteed to make an impression. 

It contains shard citrus accords, fresh florals, and vegan musk, giving the wearer a “haunting statement of motivation and drive.” Neroli blossom is mixed with sharp citrus, bergamot, cedar, and grapefruit bite, with notes of crisp citrus oils and amber undertones.

Note: While the Gryffindor and Slytherin fragrances list musk as an ingredient (a term that generally refers to an animal product), we’re very pleased to report that the recipes use a synthesized version that is completely vegan. 

Regular musk is “obtained from a sac beneath the abdominal skin of the male musk deer,” which is taken upon the deer’s death, dried to produce a “musk pod,” and broken up to find the fragrant musk grain. Musk deers live in the upper regions of Eastern Asia and are an endangered animal.

Thankfully, because Maison de Magique is vegan and cruelty-free, it uses a synthetic musk, which is safe for health and the environment. It is also possible to use ambrette seed oil or labdanum and galbanum resinoids as a natural and cruelty-free alternative to musk.

All of Maison de Magique’s specialty-brewed fragrances are made to order and available in limited quantities. This is because the process of making them contains a lot of thought and precision. For example, the mountain rose is only picked after the full moon, and the brews need to sit for 20 days to reach their best possible aroma. 

So don’t panic if one of the items you had your eye on isn’t in stock; rather than having all products constantly available, they are instead released at certain times.
