SeaWorld announced today that the "last orca to ever be born" at the park, Kyara, has died of possible pneumonia. She was only three months old. The three-month old was the last orca born at the 'amusement park.'Kyara was born in April to Takara, an orca who was also born at SeaWorld and has been imprisoned there since 1991. Orcas at SeaWorld are held captive in concrete pools filled with chemically-treated water, but Harry Potter fans will recognize a story very similar to the realities animals at SeaWorld face every day. When Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Griphook went into the depths of Gringotts, they saw a Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon who was abused and held captive. Just as dragons belong in the air, orcas belong in the ocean. While orcas cannot be reintroduced to the wild, SeaWorld can do the right thing by releasing these animals to seaside sanctuaries, where they will be able to live out the rest of their lives in as natural a setting as possible. SeaWorld can be like the trio and liberate these poor animals to a better life. Fans of J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World can choose to help animals being held prisoner at SeaWorld by choosing to not visit the park or any aquarium. By choosing to not support places that hurt animals with your galleons, you are standing up and saying "this is wrong and I don't support it!" We raise our wands for Kyara, and all other animals who have died at SeaWorld. For more ways to help magical creatures, become a member of the Fantastic Beasts Foundation. Click here to join!
